Final exam quesiton 1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Final exam quesiton 1 - Essay Example Indeed, the class accorded me the chance to learn more about the government policies on the American Indians. In addition, the learning methodology used that included lectures, essay writing, film, class discussions, and fieldtrips were fundamental in understanding the topics and improving interactions among the students and instructors. Indeed, I enjoyed the friendly and relevant modes used by the instructors to present the topics and the fact that students were at liberty to freely voice their opinions in the course of learning. Most importantly, the class availed a chance for the students to discuss controversial topics such as race and ethnicity that involve hard feelings and mixed emotions. Through these class discussions, we discussed these topics in a light mind and got the necessary understanding. Moreover, the reward on good attendance, the self-assessment survey, book reports, movie reviews, and other assessment procedures were very convenient and pleasant to this class. Hence, the class was informing, exciting, and worth

Assessment Worksheet Essay Example for Free
Assessment Worksheet Essay DACL is a list of Access control entries; it defines access control for users and groups. 2) Why would you add permissions to a group instead of the individual? What policy definition do you think is required to support this type of access control implementation? When adding permissions to a group it makes it easier for a large organization and just set up the access for the departments, or job roles. Creating GPO is best use for this job. 3) List the 5 different access control permissions that can be enabled on user folders and data within a Microsoft Windows Server. Full Control, Modify, Read Execute, Read, Write, Special permissions. 4) What is the lowest level of permission you can enable for a user who must view the contents of a folder and its files? Why is this type of permission necessary? Read permission, this permission is necessary to allow the user of a group to get information of another department in the business. 5) What are other available Password Policy options that could be enforced within a Microsoft Windows Server to improve security? Under account options you can have the user either change and make their own password upon next logon, make it so they cannot change the password unless allowed to by admin, make the password expire or not, and enable reversible encryption. 6) Is using the option to Store passwords using reversible encryption a good security practice? Why or why not? When should you enable the option to Store passwords using reversible encryption? It is known as not a normal practice, it is used for applications or programs to read the users password for permission to use. It stores the password as plain text, and used in last resort situations where there is no need to protect the password or other options are outweighed for risk. 7) Whatââ¬â¢s the difference between a Local Group Policy and a Domain Group Policy? Local Group Policy; each computer has exactly one Group Policy object that is stored locally. This processes for both computer and user Group Policy processing. Domain Group Policy is a global setting for all groups in the domain. 8) In what order are all available Group Policies applied? There is the default applied, and new policies are applied after by linking to active directory.à 9) What is an Administrative Template as it refers to Windows Group Policy Objects? Administrative templates can be used to have settings for users and what they can access on windows, programs etc. and can have folders redirected. By default some are enabled and have windows default settings. Templates can be useful for managing groups. 10) What is the GP MC? How can GPMC help ensure proper access controls are implemented correctly? The Group Policy Management Console unifies policies across a forest or enterprise in one console, and can easily create policies for groups and set their access.

Cause and Effect Essay - The Causes of Americaââ¬â¢s Social Problems
Cause and Effect Essay - The Causes of Americaââ¬â¢s Social Problems The causes of social problems exist on many levels. When we ask why social problems such as poverty, unemployment, crime, and war exist, each time we determine a cause, we can ask "why" again, as children often do until they are hushed. Poverty exists because some folks can't find jobs or the jobs pay poorly. But then why is the wage level so low? Because of the tax and land-tenure systems. Why do we have those systems? Because special interests pay to legislate it. Why do special interests get away with it? The voting structure lets them. Why does that structure exist? The voters don't demand to change it. Why not? When we dig down through all the layers to the roots of the causes, we find three fundamental causes of social problems: ignorance, apathy, and greed. The ultimate remedy for social problems therefore must confront all three root causes. It does little good to just run down the street shouting "share the rent!" or "stop war!". Uttering a slogan does no good unless it arouses sympathy. As an example of the interplay between ignorance, apathy, and greed, consider the problem of pollution. Suppose the most efficient preventative is a pollution charge based on the damage caused by each pollutant. However, the government regulates pollution instead, a policy failure that needlessly reduces employment and economic growth. One possible cause is ignorance. But suppose the best policy is known. The owners of the polluting industries seek to influence legislation to prevent the best policy. Because of their campaign contributions and other favors, the government adopts the poorer policy. The cause in this case is greed, both by the influence seeker... ...es for social problems, including the economics, politics, and ethics of the problems and solutions. Then when they educate others, they must at the same time invoke their antipathy to the problem and arouse their sympathy with the remedy. When the masses are roused with sympathy and armed with knowledge of the remedy, the few greedy opponents will either be swayed themselves to join the righteous battle, or be overwhelmed by the greater force of the righteous revolution. To remedy social ills, replace ignorance, apathy and greed with knowledge, sympathy, and charity. Works Cited George, Henry, 1879, Progress and Poverty. Literary Elements Movie Analysis
Literary Elements Book/Movie Analysis Activity Have you ever thought why most of us are interested in the stories we read or the movies we watch, the characters, the action, the suspense and the love stories? The writer has to think of how the story must be told, what effect it must it have on a reader or movie-goer, and what is the best way to present his/her ideas. To get the reader's attention,à literary elements, the techniques or kinds of writing, are used by authors/screenwriters. The proper use of those elements enables the author to keep us interested while reading a story or a writer to enjoy a movie.Literary elements, such as setting, characters, point of view, conflict and the included dialogue, are all relevant to stories, establishing their plot, mood, and theme. For your assignment you will choose a favorite book or movie that is appropriate for school. You will be identifying some of the literary elements that we have been learning in reading class. You will also ana lyze and explain the elements as I did for you in class for ââ¬Å"The Color Purpleâ⬠(TCP) You will identify the the following:à I will give you examples from the project I modeled in class: Title:Scene: Time and place the story takes place. Point of View: Through whose eyes is the story being told? Celie speaks in the first person through a series of private letters she writes to God and her sister Nettie. We see and hear the story through Celie's eyes. Characters: Protagonist and Antagonist Exposition or Beginning: Like you, all of the characters in a story have a history, details about their pasts that are important to understanding their personality and their present lives. It is important that readers know some of these details in order to understand a story. This is call the exposition. It is the backround information on the characters and setting explained at the beginning of the story. For example, when I modeled my presentation in class regarding ââ¬Å"The Color Pur ple'sâ⬠protagonist Celie. It was important to know that she was abused physically, mentally and verbally by all of the men in her life. It was important to know that her father gave her away to a vicious man named Albert to be married. We can then understand why Celie was so shy, introverted and had such a low self-esteem. Rising Actions: à These are the actions or events that build up to the tension or conflict in a story. As I modeled in class a rising action for The Color Purple was Celie's relationship with her friend Shug, a strong and independent beautiful woman. Shug teaches Celie about God, love and self-respect. This relationship teaches Celie to build confidence, a sense of self, love and a voice. This gives Celie the confidence to stand up to Mr. Albert and the conflict of the story. Conflict: Is the problem and exciting action in a story that is happening to or against the protagonist. There are seven conflicts that we have learned about in class. Please identify w hat conflict(s) that are happening to the protagonist in the story. As I modeled in TCP Celie's conflicts are Character vs. Character (her Father, Alfonso and Mr. Albert), Character vs. Society(Racism) Climax:à When the conflict of the plot is resolved. It is often the most exciting part of the story. The climax is sometimes referred to as the ââ¬Å"turning pointâ⬠of the story, when the plot changes for better or for worse for the protagonist. In TCP the climax is when Celie uses her newly gained self-confidence to stands-up to Mr. Albert and leaves him to move to Tennessee with Shug.Falling Action: The action and events that happen after the climax. The protagonist usually defeats the antagonist in some way. The reader/viewer will see a change in the characters affected by the climax. In TCP, Celie returns to Georgia as a successful entrepreneur and finds that Mr. Albert has undergone a personal transformation. Resolution:à After Alphonso's death Celie inherits his home. Mr. Albert has finally done good for Celie and she welcomes the return of her sister Nettie and her children Samuel, Olivia and Adam. Theme: à The idea, message or moral the author is trying to tell.Examples: love, friendship, war, racism, sexism, relationships. In TCP the theme is the power of voice, strong female relationships and the cyclical nature of racism and sexism. We have learned about all of these elements of literature in class. Now we must think about them as we are reading our books or watching our favorite film. We will identify these elements and analyze them. We will work on this for 20 minutes a day in class. You will take this time to do research, ask me questions and show me the work you have completed so far so I can guide you in the correct direction. If you need help choosing a book or movie please just ask. You may use any of our read aloud we are currently reading in class. Points: I want the organization of your project to look exactly as is does above, f rom Title-Theme. Each correctly identified element will be worth 5 points. Yourà ANALYSISà andà EXPLANATIONà in YOUR OWN WORDS( if you need help with paraphrasing please visit Brainpop. com and search ââ¬Å"Paraphraseâ⬠) will be worth 10 pts each. Please make sure you put your explanation in your own words. Points will be taken for messy work and misspelled words. You will be graded on creativity. Please provide visuals or audio from your book or movie. As I modeled in class please add any clips of your movies or books that are appropriate for class. I found my clips of the exposition, climax and resolution on IMDB. com and YouTube. These clips will add to the creativity and quality of your project. You may use power point, Microsoft word, a smart board document, or poster board to present your project. If you have other ideas on how you would like to present I am open to a discussion. If you need to use our resources at school you must COMMUNICATE that to me to set up t ime to do that. DO NOT WAIT until the last minute. This project will help us understand better the motivation and reasons why authors create the characters they do, why the characters say what they say and why they do what they do. It will also help us start to be able to understand how to complete a literary analysis of a story, short story or poem which we will eventually do in class. This is DUE on FEBRUARY18, 2013. Each day it is late you will lose 10 points. Any questions please see me.

Religious Holidays
Religious Holidays Paper There are various religious holidays that are celebrated worldwide by the many differing religions. Each holiday celebrates a certain prophet, event, or date that is important to their specific belief. Two such religious holidays are the Muslim Eid al-Fitr and the Christian Christmas. Eid-al Fitr is an important Muslim holiday that signifies the end of the month of Ramadan. It is also called The Feast of Breaking Fast, The Sugar Feast and The Sweet Festival. The month of Ramadan is meant to be spent fasting so on Eid al Fitr, Muslims are meant to break this fast. This day also marks the start of the month of Shawwal, which is the time where ââ¬Å"Muslims around the world try to show a common goal of unityâ⬠(Eid). This holiday has a specific Islamic prayer called salat that is given in two pieces. Muslims congregate to hear this prayer in a large mosque or gathering hall. They prayer is different depending on which juristic opinion is followed whether it be fard, mustahabb or mandoob. Muslims believe that they are commanded by god to fast until Eid al-Fitr where they give zakat, or a portion of ones wealth as a tax, and fitra, their constitution of being. The holiday of Eid was first started in ââ¬Å"Madinah after the migration of Muhammed from Meccaâ⬠(SOS). Muhammed came to the people of Madinah and told them of the two holidays that God has made for them to celebrate. They are an occasion to show gratitude to God and remember him as well as a day of entertainment for Muslims. Some typical food eaten on Eid is Badami Gosht, Badam Phirni, and Nawabi Biryani. These dishes are spicy, and some contain meat while others are all vegetarian. A common saying during Eid is ââ¬Å"Eid Muburakâ⬠which means happy Eid.The day starts off with keeping the traditions of the prophet Muhammed. Muslims wake up early, say a pre-sunrise prayer, brush their teeth with a toothbrush, wear their finest clothes, and put on perfume. It is forbid den to fast on Eid so ââ¬Å"Muslims have a feast on this day as well as listen to the Eid prayer in a large groupâ⬠(SOS). Eid gifts known as Eidi are given on this day to children and relatives. Christmas is an important Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Both Christians and non-Christians all around the world celebrate Christmas on December 25.This day ââ¬Å"marks the beginning of Christmastide, which ends on the 12th dayâ⬠(Christmas). Christmastide is one of the seasons of the liturgical year of most Christian churches. Christians celebrate Christmas day as the fulfillment of the Messaic Prophecy in the Old Testament. It goes that Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary on December 25 in a manger. The Three Kings that brought ââ¬Å"gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrhâ⬠visited baby Jesus (Origin). Christians put up special decorations in and around their house. They put up Christmas lights around the borders of their homes as well as various props that light up. Some include snowmen, Santa Clause, or Jesus in the manger. The colors that signify Christmas are red and green. Red represents the blood of Jesus while green represents eternal life. The Christmas tree comes from pagan rituals surrounding the winter solstice involving evergreens. It is now incorporated in the holiday of Christmas. The idea of Santa Clause comes from the man Saint Nicholas. He would check the behavior of children and decide whether they deserved gifts or not.Nicholas would secretly put gifts such as coins in peopleââ¬â¢s shoes. This began the idea of gift giving on Christmas day. A traditional Christmas meal is had on this day with various dishes including ones specific to Christmas. These include mince pies, fruitcakes, and Christmas pudding. Both Christmas and Eid al-Fitr share some similar qualities. Both can be called many different names. For example Christmas can be called Xmas and Eid can be called The Sugar Feast. T hey both are religious holidays that have been started because of a great prophet or messiah. Both holidays have ââ¬Å"historical significance that relates back to either Muhammed or Jesusâ⬠(What). These holidays share the basic principle of happiness and cheer, as well as giving. Feasts along with foods that are specific to the holiday are important parts of both Christmas and Eid al-Fitr. Gifts are given in Christmas and Eid as a sign of good fortune a care. While there are similarities between the two holidays, there are also many differences. Eid marks the end of one month and the start of another in contrast with Christmas, which is only significant to one day.Christmas involves decorating your house while Eid does not. Eid also does not have a figure that is tied to gift giving like Christmas does. A major difference between Christmas and Eid is that ââ¬Å"many non-Christians celebrate the holiday of Christmasâ⬠(What). Only Muslims celebrate Eid however and it is not as widely accepted by non-Muslims. The religious holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Christmas are both important days to two different religions. These days share some of the same characteristics while also differing in various aspects that make them unique and important to those that celebrate them.

It is an integrated approach to managing relationships by focusing on customer retention and relationship development. CRM has evolved from advances in information technology and organizational changes in customer-centric processes. Companies that successfully implement CRM will reap the rewards in customer loyalty and long run profitability.(injazz J. Chen, Karen Popovich, (2003) Understanding customer relationship management (CRM): People, process and technology, Business Process Management Journal, Vol. 9 Iss: 5, pp.672 ââ¬â 688) REALIZING BUSINESSà BENEFITS THROUGH CRM: HITTING THE RIGHT TARGET IN THE RIGHT WAY 1Dale L. Goodhue University of Georgia Barbara H. Wixom University of Virginia Hugh J. Watson University of GeorgiaMany companies are in the early stages of implementing customer relationship management (CRM). Although CRM promises increased revenues, profits, and customer service, companies face potential failure because of the complex technical and organizational issues involved. Our research on CRM, and six company experiences in particular, illustrate three CRM ââ¬Å"targetsâ⬠that companies aim for: implement a single or a few applications, create a strong infrastructure to support CRM, or use CRM to transform the organization. These targets have very different impacts and different challenges, as reflected in six lessons: They differ on both costs and benefits; sponsorship varies; each suggests a different evolution for a CRM effort; prepare to get your hands dirty in cleaning the data; ensure that the architecture will scale; and you can (sometimes!) teach old dogs new tricks. (MIS Quarterly Executive Vol. 1 No. 2 / June 2002) Dell is one of the most successful and profitable computer corporation in history. it has been known for its innovative customer services and product custom configuration. With the passage of organization continues to develop, it is confronting with more challenging environment of retaining its customers and maintaining relationship with them and finding new ways of management in order to meet the needs/demand of the customers, we have to identify opportunities to maintain and increase the revenue throughà understanding of crm theories . The basic need of dell crm is to maintaining long-term relationship with customers as it is proved that gainingà a new customer is expensive than retaining the current ones. The main objectives of crm theory are acquiring customer, adding loyalty, retention customers, adding value. Crm is the ââ¬Å"process of creating and maintaining relationships with business customers/consumers (moon2003).â⬠Michael dellà with his limited resources startedà focusing on in enhancing sales instead of locking capital in production, the new idea presented by dell was ââ¬Å"building to order.â⬠At one stage of its progress dell used this strategy of selling products directly through retail outlets. But the outcome from the implemented strategy was very unprofitable then he realized just to focus on customers,à service before ââ¬Å"building to orderâ⬠à idea, people used to buy computers from retail out with no communications with manufactures only contact with sale person having lake of information regarding the product. Dell company is different from its competitors (HP, IBM, SONY, APPLE AND GATEWAY)à because dell is focusing on tools like, CRM-SCM, as a result dell become leader in customer relationship management (CRM) and in supply chain management (CRM). Dell is profit able computer organization known for computer software, hardware, and making computer components. According to Dedrick and Kracker(2006), ââ¬Å"dell is aiming to combine the cost advantages of horizontal specialization with close coordination of vertical integration.â⬠How to implement CRM(stages in implementing crm) The implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) strategy is best treated as a six-stage process, moving from collecting information about your customers and processing it to using that information to improve your marketing and the customer experience. Stage 1 Collecting information(pre-relationship stage) Clearly, questions and uncertainties abound. We have a long way to go in capturing a customerââ¬â¢s psyche. But to compete for customer satisfaction, firms must work harder to collect, distribute and use the right data.(by Thomas H. Davenport, Jeanne G. Harris and Ajay K. Kohli January 15, 2001) The priority should be to capture the information you need to identify your customers and categorise their behaviour. Those businesses with a website and online customer service have an advantage as customers can enter and maintain their own details when they buy. Stage 2 Storing information(the early stage) The most effective way to store and manage your customer information is in a relational database a centralised customer database that will allow you to run all your systems from the same source, ensuring that everyone uses up-to-date information. Stage 3 Accessing information(the development stage) With information collected and stored centrally, the next stage is to make this information available to staff in the most useful format. Stage 4 Analysing customer behaviour(the long term stage) Using data mining tools in spreadsheet programs, which analyse data to identify patterns or relationships, you can begin to profile customers and develop sales strategies. Stage 5 Marketing more effectively(the final stage) Many businesses find that a small percentage of their customers generate a high percentage of their profits. Using CRM to gain a better understanding of your customers needs, desires and self-perception, you can reward and target your most valuable customers. Stage 6 Enhancing the customer experience Just as a small group of customers are the most profitable, a small number of complaining customers often take up a disproportionate amount of staff time. If their problems can be identified and resolved quickly, your staff will have more time for other customers. Applications and theoriesà of CRM: Crm is a vital element of business success. wheneverà there a contact withà customers you get an opportunity to improve your standingà or in simpler words we can say that itââ¬â¢s a vital platform to gain reputation .this act will result in increase of further sales. It is not only contact that we talk of is necessary for sales, in broader terms , almost every aspect of your business affects the way your customers view your business. There are also specific programs you can put in place to increase your levels of customer care. Relationship marketing is concerned with how organizations manage and improve their relationships with customers for long-term profitability. Customer relationship management (CRM), which is becoming a topic of increasing importance in marketing, is concerned with using information technology (IT) in implementing relationship marketing strategies. This paper reports on a study of the adoption and use of CRM in the financial services sector. In particular, the key elements of CRM are examined in these organizations and executives perceptions of the main IT components that enable responsive CRM are explored. CRM is classified into five stages of sophistication and a framework for CRM adoption is developed. (Authors:à Ryals L.;à Payne A). (à Journal of Strategic Marketing, Volume 9,à Number 1, 1 March 2001 , pp. 3-27(25) CUSTOMER TOUCH POINTS Every time when company/organization come in contact with customer. Touch point is the first ever concept ofà crm. with touch points company can measure the effectiveness of their brand. Dell uses touch point, the mostà important step for hitting the target customers was dell launched online store ââ¬â¢dell. APPLICATIONS The information(data) which organization gathers from customers data base by using their crm software, n how organization used that information to target them with right type of crm. Dell used to do the data mining of there customer according to the transaction they made. Data collection(acquiring customer) crm involvesà customer information , It explains how you can use customer contact, feedback and loyalty schemes to retain existing customers, increase your sales to them and even win new customers. It also covers how to prepare for receiving a customer complaint. Dell collected customer data through designed database software and generate promotional campaigns targeting customers interests and products which reserved in increase in profit because right customer was targeting with right product demand. Dell used software to increase the relationship marketing. HOTLINK,à used in ââ¬Å"effective targeting, efficientà marketing communication, And real-time monitoring of customers and market trendsâ⬠ââ¬Ë(moon2003).. ââ¬Ëpremier pagesââ¬â¢ second type of software used by the dell wad ââ¬Ëpremier pagesââ¬â¢ for more profitable customers containing purchase data. The main theme behind ââ¬Ëpremier pages; was ââ¬Å"gain less information about customers. They already know about them and more to create real win-win situationâ⬠(levey,1999) The progress of the company based on crm-scm implementation strategy. Dell created strong relationship with customer as well as with the suppliers. The function of scm was to make sure the availability of computer Part on time, when and where required .dell managedà efficient and effective scm system to fulfil the demand of the customer. à Customer satisfaction model ââ¬Å"we have an efficient cost structure with customers on one hand and suppliers on otherâ⬠.(rollin,nov17,2006) satisfied customers will contribute to your business for years, through their purchases and through recommendations and referrals of your business. Bulid Customer loyalty schemes While good overall service is the best way of generating customer loyalty, sometimes new relationships can be strengthened, or old ones refreshed, using customer loyalty schemes. These are programmes that use fixed or percentage discounts, extra goods or prizes to reward customers for behaviour that benefits your business. They can also be used to persuade customers to give you another try if you feel you have successfully tackled past problems with your customer service. Develop customer confidence Your existing customers are among the most important assets of your business they have already chosen you instead of your competitors. Keeping their custom costs far less than attracting new business, so its worth taking steps to make sure that theyre satisfied with the service they receive. There are a number of techniques dell employ to gain customer confidence, including: Dell providing a free customer helpline Dell answering frequently asked questions on your website Dell following up sales with a courtesy call Dell providing free products that will help customers look after or make the most of their purchases Dell sending reminders when services or check-ups are due Dell offering preferential discounts to existing customers on further purchases Prevent customer complaints Every business has to deal with situations in which things go wrong from a customers point of view. if you handle the complaint successfully, your customer is likely to prove more loyal than if nothing had gone wrong people willing to complain are rare your complaining customer may be alerting you to a problem experienced by many others who silently took their custom elsewhere dell sympathetically listen to establish the details of the complaint dell record the details together with relevant material, such as a sales receipt or damaged goods dell offering rectificationà whether by repair, replacement or refund dell used to do appropriate follow-up action, such as a letter of apology or a phone call to make sure that the problem has been made good. Determinents of crm Trust : trust is the most important determinant of crm ,for gaining theà à trust of customers the first thing need to do the market research or market survey, what other company is providing and what is the response of the customer, by doing market research company get to know about the behaviourà of the customer understand customer behaviour which in turn gives the information of needs and demands of the customers, Existing customer relationships are opportunities to increase sales because your customers will already have a degree of trust in your recommendations. Dell is the one of the organization focuses on crm determinants to enhance their revenue, ââ¬Å"To retain your customers trust, however, never try to sell them something that clearly doesnt meet their needs.â⬠(the chartered institute of marketing), businesslink.gov.uk/ value : Its is the most important determinant of crm, What makes your customers valuable? Analysing your customers allows you to identify those who best fit your business priorities. These will depend on your strategy. For example, if you are launching a new product your aim might be to build sales as quickly as possible.à But if you have cashflow problems you might value customers who pay quickly. Value chain model concept introduce by porter in 1985. Its basically value added to the product in order to maximize the satisfaction from customerà point of view and maximize the profit from producers point of view, à Collecting data from customers. à à Use of touch points. à à Through internet. à à Premier pages. à Hotlink website launched à Saas crm à à Sales force crm. Difference Between a Book Report and A Book Review
Difference Between a Book Report and A Book Review The difference between book report and book review is critical, so you have to pay close attention to what you are expected to come up with: if you need to sum up and enumerate, youre in for a book summary (book report), but if you need to analyze, you want to write a book review. There is a great deal of confusion when it comes to discussing book reports and book reviews. As a matter of fact, these two terms keep used quite interchangeably, while a deeper dig-in shows some principal differences between the two. If you submit a book report and you were asked to write a book review, your grade is most likely to go down. The opposite situation, i.e. when you submit a book review instead of a book report, may also entail adverse consequences. Book review writing is believed to require greater intellectual effort than book reports, thats why your marker will most likely forgive you this mistake. HOW TO WRITE A BOOK REVIEW Speaking of differences, first of all, you will have to understand that a book report is simpler (a more primitive if you will) kind of writing, where you have to narrate re-tell the story. A book report is practically identical to a book summaryà and they can be used interchangeably. In contrast,à a book review requires you to analyze the book and see beyond the obvious. In it, you will need to examine its contents, understand the plot, the main message of the book, see if the author has managed to convey the message to the reader; you will also have to state strong and weak sides of the book and say whether or not you like it. More differences between the two terms are as follows: LENGTH.à Book report will usually take 200-250 words. Book reviews will range from 200 words if its a simple book to 1000+ words if its a piece of scholarly literature that needs thorough analysis and evaluation. ACADEMIC LEVEL.à Book report is considered to be a K-12 level assignment. Book review is more of a college-level type of assignment. STRUCTURE.à The structure of two papers resemble one another: first off, you would need to introduce the author, the book, state when and who the book was published by. You would need to mention characters, mention the plot, genre, and major themes. MESSAGE.à If you write a book report, you would need to simply sum up the book plot, characters, state major themes and say a few words about the major characters. If you are writing a book summary, the main idea is to say whether or not you like the book, whether or not you would recommend this book to other readers and why. HOW TO WRITE A BOOK REPORT Either of these assignments is generally easy to write, however, each has its own nuances that you need to know.
